Here at CMS, we organized a school wide election on Nov 6th. Our students voted in the Multi Purpose Room during their social studies classes. Each social studies class was assigned a state and the popular vote of that class determined the electoral vote that state represents. Two weeks ago all social studies teachers began an election curriculum to prepare our students for the big day.
On election day, we got 1,418 students to vote in as authentic experience as we could provide. Hopefully, learning about the election process, the issues and candidates, and what their vote means will serve them well as the responsible citizens we educate them to be.
